On September 16th Steven will be giving a reading at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe! He'll be reading from "Madeline City and other tales", and it will start at 7pm, with a period for questions and signing afterwards. As plans move forward and the year comes to an end, Steven has scrunched the numbers (and the lifestyle) and has laid down specific plans for Madeline City. The book will be coming out no later than March, possibly as early as February, as opposed the previous projection of between March and May.

Maus won a drawing during the recent e-party at Rebecca's Reads.com! His prize was a free manuscript evaluation, and Madeline City is currently under scrutiny by a professional who will soon return a detailed opinion of the work to Maus.

Due to financial constraints, the release of Madeline City has been pushed back early next year, somewhere between March and May. To save money, MC will be published as part of a collection including a short story, as well as Maus' third novel. All three of these stories take place in the same world, though at different points along the same timeline.

Today a friend of Steven's went to the local Barnes and Noble, intending on ordering a copy of Branchwater. Much to his surprise, the bookseller informed him that they actually had two copies in stock, ready to be purchased right off the shelf. Shortly thereafter Steven's cellphone gave out a chime as it received a picture message from his friend, bearing the good news! For those of you who have yet to buy your copy, stop by your local Barnes and Noble. Every single sale helps!

On November 1st, Steven Maus read from Branchwater at the BSU Open Mic at CGCC. The reading was well met with enthusiastic applause, and Patrick Finn likened it to Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian (1985), the classic american novel about the wars between Texans and Indians during the 1840s.

On 9/1/07, Ingram Book Company-U.S. (one of the two biggest book distributors in the U.S.), placed an order for four copies of Branchwater. This is the first sort of order to be placed for Branchwater, and Steven is very pleased!

The SSA Conference was excellent! The most helpful seminars were Self-Publishing Success given by Mike White, and Secrets of the Industry, given by Jerry Simmons. It's quite maddening to know that about 150 people in highrises in New York control over 90% of what books are available in the U.S.A.
